Books are my window to the past.

This section, like any library, is a living work in progress...

CLICK the photo to the left, for a partial list of books I have available and details of what others may glean from them. I include links to full citation information, (if available), with the publishers' details, the locations of libraries to find them, and commerce sites to buy them. If other bibliophiles across the globe will contribute their lists and volunteer to do look-ups, we can share information and assist each other. Check back once in a while as I add to it when I have time, and having just built a library in our new home, books we've had boxed for many years are now being shelved and appreciated once again.

LOOK-Ups - 1933 & 1936 Wright's City Directory, Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Contact me with "City Directory" in subject and be sure to include some details to help me to identify your specific family. Also - please have patience, as I do not do these daily, but I will answer every request, as time permits.

If you are interested in contributing your list... contact me via email, cmrhere@aol.com, for instructions on where to locate the important information to include on your list, or if you have questions about creating the file list. My list is done in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file. This way the links can be clicked on and the list can be resorted as you wish. (For those unable to use Excel, I can convert it to whatever you need.)

And everyone who enjoys reading... see this site: http://worldcat.org  Ever wonder how to find out whether a particular BOOK is in a LIBRARY near you so you can go and do hands-on research or if allowed, take it home to read? This is a great site to do many things...such as

1.) Get all citation information for research you may have transcribed without properly noting it.
2.) Search for a specific publication and what libraries list it in their card catalog.
(I won't say 'has available', as that is not specifically true).
3.) They also have links on this site to commerce sites to buy the book.

Try it ... and book-mark as a great tool. This link goes to Rutherford info, but of course the site is for all types of research.   http://worldcat.org/search?q=su%3ARutherford+family.&qt=hot_subject

Personal Library Lists and Look-Ups

If any Rutherford Researchers have some interesting history or genealogy-related books or other reference materials, and you would be willing to do some Look-Ups for people who have Rutherford or related family lines, please submit your list and what the best way is for people to request look-ups. Email is usually best as you can more easily respond and maintain contact, but if you prefer telephone or snail-mail contact, please note that.

It has come to my attention that there may be some "issues" with doing look-ups in copyrighted materials that are currently in print and available for sale. I have seen online postings saying that by doing look-ups in a copyrighted publication, this somehow interferes with or stops the info-seeking person from buying that publication to obtain what they need. My opinion, (& I'm no lawyer), is that on the contrary, I see this as encouraging people to buy a publication once they know there is family history or information of real use to them, and how is this any different than calling a library and asking their "Ready Reference" or other librarian to look something up for you?
I do expect those who do look-ups not to violate copyright laws by "copying" the materials, in total to share, but do give a synopsis with full citations for what is used and include a URL to the publisher's commerce site, if possible. It is the same as the use of any publication for personal use and/or research. You've all seen posted copyright signs near the copy machines in the library. We are all personally responsible for following copyright laws. If there are any lawyers out there that have knowledge in this area that they can share free of charge, I'd be very interested in receiving it.
As mentioned, this area of my website is a work in progress. I have literally hundreds of books I am cataloging and that is taking quite a long time. I hope my partial list is helpful. If you want to share a list of yours -- please email me.  cmrhere@aol.com  Thank you!
